ON TRIAL

It was alleged at the trial of 15 men charged with rioting before Mr Justice J. R. Gregg in the Criminal Sessions this morning that a crowd of more than 1,000 persons outside, the Pao Shing cotton mill in Toun Wan demanded that the management of the Mill should hoist a Chinese Nationalist flag.

The Prosecution stated that the trouble started between 4 and 4,30 p.m. on Octoper 11 last when a group of women who had assembled out- side the Mill started singing anti-Communist songs. This demonstration caused a large crowd to assemble and this mob, allegedly led by the first accused, made demands on the management.
