Military authorities said rebel activity in the last 24 hours had been hardly worth mentioning and that insurgent "agents" continually refused to join combat with the heavily-armed French patrols.
No explanation for the sudden lull was given. But there was no Indication that the French military leaders think the rebels have quit.
