U.S. OLYMPIC SOCCER TEAM BEATEN 2-1 BY ALL-HONGKONG
By "TOUCHWOOD”
THE CHINA MAIL WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 1966, 1.
FIGHTING SCOT KÖR MELBOURNE
The visiting American Olympic soccer team failed to lower the colours of All-Hongkong but in their 2-1 defeat they rendered the Hongkong Football Association a service by bringing back the missing crowd that has been missing since the start of the Colony soccer season.
Yesterday, the visitors did not produce soccer of a spectacular class, nor did they produce any player of the calibre of Stanley Matthews, Ferenc Puskas or Kocals. The Americans just played an ordinary straightforward game which seemed to please the crowd if we are to judge by the deafening cheers that echoed around the Hongkong Stadium.

The other clubs where lights are fitted accuse West Bromwich of being selfish. Reason for this is that the duels between the Albion, Wolverhampton Wa.derers, Aston Villa and Birmingham City are among the most attractive in the season's fix- ture list, and the other clubs want Albion to fall into line in order that there may be uniform late kick-offs or even evening matches-two factors to materially boost By STANLEY MATTHEWS on a car were German Mercedes "gate" receipts.
