The final United States Olympic Track and Field Trials take place today and tomorrow at Los Angeles and the first three in each event, irrespective of their past record of achievement, will be selected to repre- sent the United States in the Olympic Games at Melbourne in November.

A fourth alternate will also be selected who, after a final trinj later in the season, may replace anyone of the first three in his event who, trial performances show, has not kept up his training.
