A major power blackout in Hongkong stopped city trams and lifts and plunged offices into darkness for periods of up to 35 minutes this morning.
Two shorter blackouts followed the first. They caused chaos in some parts of the city and a good deal of confusion in other parts.
The first blackout lasted about 23-35 minutes.
