The French Resident Minister in Algiers, M. Robert Lacoste, declared here today that "the situation of Algeria on the whole is serious."

Speaking at the opening of the budget session of the Algerian Assembly, M.. Lacoste said that it would not be in the interests of France to deny the serious- ness of the Algerian situation.
