Star Bonus Stimulates Demand
CHINA LIGHT ACTIVE ON RUMOURS OF CALL

The Hongkong share market had its most active week for more than a $2 cash bonus plus an two months when a surprise announcement of unchanged $5.50 final dividend by Star Ferry touched off a small buying sprec last Friday. As a result, total turnover for the week was $5.24 million.
The daily turnover on Friday shot up from $710,000 to $1,420,000. The improvement continued on Monday with share prices rising to their highest level of the week and the turnover climbing to $1,700,000.
The rise was not maintained, however. Sellers appeared in the afternoon and prices began to slip back. On Tuesday the market was inclined to be weak and there was little interest again on Wednesday in the short morning's trading.
