The world gold markets have paid no attention to the reports that Russia has an "immense" gold stock of about 200 million ounces, and an annual gold output of at least 12 million ounces available for a "rouble offensive" in under-developed countries.
Bullion dealers said that any estimates of Russia's gold were sheer guesswork. Nobody outside the Kremlin had any means of making worthwhile estimates.
