HOW NATIONAL STUD HELPS BRITISH BREEDERS

By VINCENT ORCHARD

Unlike the majority of national Institutions, Britain's National Stud is run with the minimum of control by Government officials. Control is, in fact, vested in the Minister of Agriculture, whose Department is now styled the Ministry of Agricul- ture, Fisheries and Food, but the management, for all practical purposes, is entrusted to a working Director, who for many years has been Mr Peter Burrell.

The Stud is located at Gillingham in the county of Dorset, in the west of England, and is run in conjunction with another properly at West Grinstead, In Sussex.
