SPEEDY RUMANIANS MAKE THEIR BOW AT TWICKENHAM
By PETER LOVEGROVE
What
-now the Rumanians at Twickenham! "First the Italians will it be next-the Russians at Lord's?" indignantly remarked an old diehard friend of mine, who firmly believes that a foreigner may be all right in his place, but that place is not on aBritish sports field.
It was a pity that I could not entice my friend to witness this fresh rape of Twickenham's hallowed soil by the Rumanians, because he is a fair-minded fellow and he would have revelled in the pace and fitness of these sportsmanlike lads from behind the Iron Curtain.

No man could have done more. Through seven weeks of training, Archie Moore sought and schemed for the way to beat the granite man, Rocky Marciano. If he could be cut and slashed, if he could be made to grovel on a dusty ring floor, if he could be foxed and boxed with the accu- mulated skill of a long career - Moore felt sure one of these was the RUMANIA WINS victory plan.
He was wrong. Utterly, courageously wrong.
He inflicted every one of these indignities on the Heavyweight Champion, of the World last week at the Yankee Stadium. More, he drove himself beyond the rea- sonable Hmit of human endurance under fearful, sustained bombardment.
