The Security Council will meet on Thursday at the request of the Western Big Three in an attempt to give a permanent character to the shaky ceasefire between Egypt and Israel.

The United States, Britain and France will offer a proposal to the 11-nation Council calling upon the embittered neighbours to end the retaliatory raids on each other and to co-operate with the United Nations in working out permanent peace along the Egyptian- Israeli border.
