Nehru Given Credit For New Geneva Talks

Washington, July 25.

The United States and Red China agreement to meet at Geneva next Monday and discuss "prac tical matters now at issue between both sides" is generally regarded here as a considerable victory for the diplomatic efforts of the Indian Prime Minister, Mr Jawaharlal Nehru, and, to a lesser extent, Premier U Nu of Burma.

Mr Nehru's roving peace envoy, V. K. Krishna Menon, during his recent conferences here with President Eisenhower and the Secretary of State, John Foster Dulles, strongly urged the US to meet face to face with Communist China in an effort to make a start toward eliminating some of the causes of friction between the two countries.
