By Emergency Regulations published in today's Gazette, Government has completely prohibited the sale, purchase and use of a group of highly dangerous organic phosphorus in- secticides.

This prohibition takes effect immediately. Possession of the insecticides after August 15 is also prohibited under the Regulations.

Persons contravening the Regulations are liable to a fine of $5,000 and imprisonment for twelve months.

Authority is also given to the Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to appoint inspectors for the purpose of enforcing the Regulations and to Magistrates to order forfeiture of insecticides if the

law is broken.
