London, Apr. 21.
The Belgian FN 300 self-loading rifle, expected to be adopted by all the British Commonwealth armies by the end of this year, is having its "baptism of fire" in Malaya and Kenya.
British troops in both colonial trouble spots are using the rifle as part of extensive troop trials" to which the simple, light Belgian weapon is being subjected.

The FN 300 was selected by the present British Government in preference to Britain's new E.M.2 automatic rifle, after exhaustive tests. Impartial ob- Servers found little difference between the weapons, although they felt that the Belgian rife was easier and quicker to make and maintain. Defendant was a banishes and had one previous conviction.
