Today sees the climax of the National Hunti Season, when the Grand National, the world's most testing steeplechase, is run at Aintree, Liverpool.modesto
The race takes place over four and a half miles and thirty fences and following last year's unlucky race when four horses were killed, the, National Hunt Committee recommended certain alterations to ease hazards without affecting the character of the race.

and Cambridge The Oxford Boat Race' will be rowed over the four and a quarter mile course of the Thames between | Mortlake and Putney today.
Owing to the state of the tide this year, the race will start later than usual and commentaries will be heard in Hongkong at 11 p.m. John Snagge (who has covered every Rant Race since 1930) will give the commentary from the launch Consuta' and he will be assisted by D. G. Clapperton and R. H. Symonds, and Cambridge former Oxford Blues respectively
