The Floods Go, Leaving Behind A Tricky Problem

FROM H. KING WOOD

Sydney, Mar. 8.

The floods have gone leaving in their place ruined cities and towns, smashed homes and broken hearts and while they may no longer be big news for newspapers it still strikes a chord in the hearts and the pockets of the nation.

The first fund for the flood victims was opened last Friday week. By last night the total was approaching the £630,000 mark-given by all sections of the communi- 1y. Thousands more have poured in from overseas—from New Zealand, from Hongkong, from South Africa and, of course, from Britain with her £250,000.
