TWO ASIAN RECORDS FALL AT INDIAN NATIONAL ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Two Asian athletic records fell at the Indian National Athletic Championships, held at Eden Gardens, Calcutta, from February 11 to 13. Joginder Singh, runner-up in the Aslan Games 400 Metres, set up a new Aslan mark for the distance of 48 seconds exactly, beating the Asian Games and Asian record of Japan's Kanji Akagi by exactly half a second, while Parduman Singh, Asian Games Champion in the Shot Put and Discus Throw, broke his own Asian record in the former event with a new mark of 47 feet 10 inches (14.585 metres).
