POSSIBLE EXCHANGE
OF INFORMATION
Washington, Feb. 18.
Manufacture by Britain of hydrogen bombs is expected in diplomatie circles here to lead to greater Anglo-American co-operation in the whole atomic and thermo-nuclear field.
It has long been the contention of British officials that the more nuclear information that Britain has to offer to the United States, the easier it will be to break down barriers in the United States to mutual exchanges of information.
A Britain is now developing ita
of hydrogen bomb entirely independent of United States research and development, it is considered possible that Britain will produce a superior type and certain that Britain will accumulate information of value to the United States.

Essential To European Unity
London, Feb. 19.
Britain and Italy today stated their belief that "the early participation of West Germany in the Western European Union was essential to the unity and defence of the Western community."
A communique issued after three-day talks here between Signor Mario Scelba, the Italian Prime Minister, and the British Government, said the two countries "agreed to do their utmost to bring the Western European Union into force at the earliest possible moment, in the conviction that this organisation is essential for the promotion of closer co-operation within Western Europe."
