TN the first week of 1955 a young man, in a scarlet-lined herringbone coat, whose passport bears the name Van den Bogaerde, garaged his new Bentley and took a sleeping-car to Venice,

The overland traveller, better known as Dirk Bogarde, will be setting off to star in his 21st flim, Doctor At Sen.

And though still in his carly, thirties he will, he reckons, be working on borrowed time.

Why? Because he will then have, exceeded the English Alm star's allotted apan of seven years.
