FANTASTIC "MADE IN JAPAN" ALLEGATIONS REFUTED
From Our Own Correspondent
London, Nov. 25.
The Director of the Hongkong Government Office in London, Mr
E. G. A. Grimwood today delivered a sharp rebuke to the Secretary of the British Retail Trading Standards Association, Mr Roger Diplock who said today: "There seems 'little or no doubt that the bulk of merchandise coming from Hongkong is Japanese".
Mr Grimwood described the allegations as "Nonsense". Mr Diplock said in a letter to The Times of London: "Japanese of Transfer which reads: goods masquerade as Hongkong products to benefit in one way or another from passing through the Colony." He alleged Hongkong goods were being increasingly associated with "piracy of design and other reprehen- sible practices such as misrepresentation".
