While the hue and cry over reparations continues to rattle public forums in Manila, Japanese exports are slowly but surely breaking their way into the Philippine market.
This progress may not be very fast or spectacular but it certainly indicates that Japanese are increasingly successful in the exporters Philippines. The net effect of this is the progressive narrowing of Japan's large adverse trade balance which has characterised the trade between the two countries since the barter trade agreement got underway in June, 1960.
