Drinkers and non-drinkers will go to the polls in New South Wales on Saturday to vote by referendum for or against later hotel closing hours.

Their choice is between retention of the present 6 p.m closing, or extension of drinking hours to 10 p.m.

World production of soybeans is expected to total 735 million bushela in 1954, according to a preliminary estimate by the Foreign Agricultural Service.

In its current "Foreign Crops and Markets," the Department of Agriculture agency said the expected 1954 crop would represent a 14 per cent increase from the 1953 revised estimate of 645 million bushels, for a new all-time high.
