LET CHARLTON'S MISERIES ON THEIR SOUTH AMERICAN TOUR BE A WARNING
Says JIMMY SEED
(Manager of Charlton)
I have just completed my report to the Football Association on Charlton's summer tour South America-a report that could well horrow the title of the popular song: "South America-Take It Away.'
For this is a sad report of the most miserable tour in the history of the probably the most frustrating, infuriating trip ever made by a British club.

There Is A Hard Core Of 10 Players Who Will Certainly Be Selected
Says PETER DITTON
Soon now the MC will announce the names of the 17 players who have been invited to tour Australia during the coming English winter. Letters have already gone from Lord's to some 30 players asking whether they will be available, if selected, and answers to these are coming in.
The final announcement is expected after the third Test match against Pakistan at Manchester which begins on July 22.
For the first time since 1936-7 it can be truthfully said that the selection of the side for Australia poses the problem not of who to put in but rather who to leave out.
So the players had to queue for three hours at the Em- Intasy. It would have been longer but for the efforts of two British missionaries.
FIGHTING MAD
The boys were lighting mad. We kicked off at 9.30 that night and went on to win for the first time in the last match of the tour.
Barcelona
3-2
were beaten and we didn't even mind the grim conditions at the hotel.
More engine trouble on the way home and 3 three-hour delay at Miami. Crossing the Atlantic we lost eight hours al Gandar through yel another faully aerati.
And as we walled we vowed: "No more South America, no more long hours."
The South American aides are up First Division class and superh ball players. Bul they would not let
US watch them froin.
Arc
Still we have learned enough for me to say: "Watch Charlton next season." (London Express Service).

Len Hutton Signals His Return To Good Health By Scoring 163
London, July 21.
Len Hutton, England's caplain for the tour of Aus- tralia next winter, signalled his return to health and good form today by hitting 163 for Yorkshire off the Combined Services. It surpassed his previous best score this sea- son by exactly 100.
Hutton was playing only his second match since re- covery from neuritis, which kept him out of cricket for three weeks. Brian Close also belaboured the Services altack before falling at 164.
