MANGANESE Industry
India's Dollar Earner Faces Grave Crisis
Nagpur, Madhya Pradesh, July 14. India's manganese Industry, one of the coun- try's main dollar earners, is facing a crisis.
Sixty-three out of 200 manganese mines in Madhya Pradesh have closed during the last five months, throwing 25,000 workers out of employ- ment. Madhya Pradesh, the main, producer, yields over 70 per cent of India's output of man- ganese, an essential ingredient in hardening steel. The present slump in the Indiag manganese trade is attributed mainly to the appearance of Buisia, Brazil and other countries in the international market.

U.S. WILL NOT HALT PACIFIC H-BOMB TESTS
New York, July 13.
The United States delegate in the United Nations Trusteeship Council, Mr Mason Sears, to- day reiterated that the United States could not half the nuclear tests in the Marshall Islands until the Soviet Union, stopped their tests.
"But there does not seem much chance of this, according to recent Soviet statements," he told the Council.
Mr Sears had similarly informed the Council's Petitions Committee which yesterday re- Jected Soviet and Indian resolu- ions to prevent further tests

Another resolution, which would have given indirect support to the United States determination to continue the tests, was also rejected by the Committee because of a ilo vote.
