WELCH SURPRISE FIJIANS TO WIN THE FARELF RUGGER CHAMPIONSHIP

Bv “PAK LO”

Yesterday afternoon the Welch Regiment, to the surprise of many of the spectators who had seen last year's Fijian Regiment team in action, defeated this year's Fijian team by 11 points (2 penalty goals) to 10 points (2 goals) in a thrilling game, a feature of which was the hard tackling of both teams. The Welch thus won the FARELF Rugger Championship.

This Fijian team has changed its style from last year, and now uses long lobs in the three fine instead of normal passing. Against many other Army units this would have been successful, but the Welch back line marked their opponents and tackled hard and low, and gave away very few chances.
