DULLES REITERATES
"NO RECOGNITION"
American Attitude To
Red China
Washington, Feb. 22.
Fears that American foreign policy was moving towards recognition of Communist China were allayed today by the American Secretary of State, Mr John Foster Dulles, who assured Con- gressional leaders that the United States would not recognise the Peking government and that this non-recognition had been a pre-condition of America's taking part in the Geneva conference.
A State Department communique issued after Mr Dulles had reported to Congressional leaders
on the results of the Berlin conference stated that
the Secretary of State had made it plain that there
would be no American recognition of Communist
China-either de facto or de jure.

London, Feb. 22. The Soviet Defence Minister, Marshal Nikolai Bulganin, de clared today that "our armed forces are in a position to deliver
blow
upon any a crushing enemy."
"At present our armed forces are strong enough to cool down those hotheads who have jost their senses and who might try to encroach upon our indepen dence," he said.
The official communique on the meeting revealed that the Secretary of State had told both Republican and
Democrat Con- aressional leaders of the results achieved at Bellin after which a general discussion had been hold.

Mr Dulles, said the communi- que, had made the following points:
1. As far as Europe was con- verted,
the Berlin conference had forced the Soviot Union to show its hand a hand that still held fast to what it had now and a hand that sought to frarp some more."
