In the Criminal Appeal Court this morning Mr Justice C. W. Reece increased the sentences of two appellants whose grounds he found were "frivolous" and dismissed the appeals of five other

men.

Two men who appealed against their sen tences of 12 months' hard labour and 12 strokes of the cane for larceny from the person told Mr Justice J. R. Gregg in the Appeal Court this morning that they had not committed the offence but had been compelled to admit they were guilty after having been beaten up by the Folice.
