"Nationalise Only Where Need Is Compelling"

London, Jan. 7. The British Labour Party, in a policy booklet published today, said that "though the general ense for nationalisation ́la cöm- pelling,we advocate nation- alization here only for thong in- dustries where the immedlinber national need makes the case compelling".

This view was, cochained in the home affairs section of the new "Challenge to BrisinTM booklet, which the Labour Party had dested.

It marks a backward slop in the Socialist nationalisation of industry policy, and runs coun- ter to the course advocated_by the Left-Wing leaders, Me Ancurin Boven, observers -unid.

The pamphlet is a modified edition of that put out last year, and is described--na, "n

pro

› gramme of - action for the next Labour government". It COLL tains amendments adopted by

14 the Labour Party-cbndrenice at -Bargate, where JE WRE SICURIE,

The booklet also incorporates the resolution, on foreign and Commonséenith policy, which was adopted by the party con- ference. The booklet was put out by the National Exscitive Committee of the Labose Party,
