Chopping The Noughts Off The Greek

Drachmae Bank Notes

Atheris, Dec. 27.

Greece will embark on a drastic currency reform next year, chopping the last three noughts from the drachmae bank- notes, in an attempt to restore public confidence in the country's money.

The main object of the measure is to case commercial transactions and to a lesser extent, to save people carrying around the grossly inflated currency in bags or even ault-cases.

This step was announced by Mr Spiros Markezinis, Greece's Co-ordinator, in Parliament.
