On Arms Issue Expected Today
New York, Nov. 15.
The results of an attempt, led by India, to try to arrive at unanimity among the Western powers and the Soviet Union on the terms under which a new effort might be made to tackle the disarma- ment question are expected to be reported to the Political Committee of the United Nations General Assembly tomorrow.
In the face of Soviet opposition to the plans of the Western powers, the Indian delegate, Mr V. K. Krishna Menon, successfully moved the ad- journment of the Committee on Saturday before a vote could be taken on
joint Allied resolution setting out the proposed terms of re- ference under which the Disarmament Commission gear might resume its work.
