Appeals Against Conviction & Sentence Upheld
THE WORLD'S BEST!
"That was a close shave: next time don't sail too close to the wind," commented Mr Justice C, W. Reece, Puisne Judge, in the Appeal Court this morning, when he allowed appeals brought by two hotel men against their conviction and sentence on charges of knowingly permitting premises to be used as a brothel and with aiding and abetting the offence.
The appellants were Yim Cheung, 35, house manager of Hennessy Hotel, and Chan Keong, 25, No. 1 boy of the same hotel.
Both appellants were convicted by Mr Lawrence Leong at Central on September 4 of knowingly permitting the second floor of the. Hennessy Hotel to be used as a brothel on July 15, and with aiding and abetting respectively, and sentenced to three months' hard labour and fined $1,000 each.
