Contempt Of Court: Fines Imposed

The proprietor-publisher and the editor of the Hung Luk Evening Post were each fined $300 and the printer $100 by the Full Court, comprising the acting Chief Justice, Mr Justice T. J. Gould, and the Puisne Judge, Mr Justice C. W. Reece, this morning, when they all pleaded guilty to a con- tempt of court.

In imposing the penalties, the Court sald that while the contempt committed was not of its kind a very serious case they noted with regret that cases of this type, or cases almost parallel to it, were still occurring with too great frequency, and the Court would have to consider in future cases whether sufficient warning has not been given and whether penaltics should not be increased.
