London, Sept. 28.

Warsaw Radio announced tonight that the Polish Government had suspended the Primate of Poland, Cardinal Wyszynski, from his duties.

It said the Primate had been "allowed to re- tire to a monastery.”

The radio broadcast a special Government communique announcing the steps taken against Dr Stefan Wyszynski.

The communique said the Archbishop had been removed from his posts by the Government for abusing his authority and breaking the prin- ciples of the agreement between the State and the Church by engaging in activities against the State.

The Government took the decision in accordance with its constitutional powers," the radio said. It re- flected the Government's anxiety for "full normalisa- tion of relations between State and Church."
