In Three States And Causes Mild Panic

An outbreak of typhoid fever in three States over the last week has caused a mild panic and given the health authorities a lot of worry. They are worried because the New South Wales cases have been reported in centres hundreds of miles apart and because people in three States and the Australian Capital Territory have been involved.
This points to a widespread carrier which gives the health people a tough job in tracing it.
This week they have been testing samples of desiccated coconut following discovery in Melbourne that a germ found in samples from Papua probably caused the outbreak there.
