NEW GOVERNOR-GENERAL
GIVES A SHOCK TO CANBERRA OFFICIALDOM
FROM H. KING WOOD,
Sydney, June 8.
The new Governor-General, Field Marshal Sir William Slim, "has given Canberra officialdom rather a nasty poke in the ribs.
Last week he sent back to the Government two Cabinet decisions asking for more information before he approves of them in Executive Council.
Canberra officials cannot remember anything like this happening before. Governor-Generals often ask questions about minutes at Council meetings, but generally the Council secretary is able to provide the answers on the spot.
the satisfy and But on this occasion the answers apparently did not minutes were not signed. This gave the Commonwealth administrative officials quito a shock, and in various ways they are beginning to realise that with the new Elizabethan age, there is also a new order in Canberra.

4 YEARS' IMPRISONMENT FOR FORGING DOCUMENT
What was described as "a constant source of trouble to the Director/ of Marine during the past two years" was brought to light at the Victoria District Court this morning, when a 45-year-old ex-seaman pleaded guilty to uttering a forged document purporting to be a Seaman's Discharge Book issued by the Consulate-General of the Republic of Panama in Hongkong, and possession of forged dies.
The accused, Pau Yau-sang, a native of the Chekiang Province, was sent to prison for four years by Judge W. A. Blair-Kerr.
The changes alleged that the Accused on May 11 uttered the fonged document, knowing it to be fanged and with intent to detrand; and that on the same date, he had possession, of two forged dies purporting to be the genuine dies of the Consulate- General of Panama without law- ful authority or excuse.
