MISSION

Karachi, May 24.

Diplomatic circles in Karachi believe that one of the main reasons for the current Middle East tour of the United States Secretary of State Mr John Foster Dulles, is to sow the seeds for a new type of Middle East Defence Organisation.

Observers here consider that Mr Dulles is in favour of an organisation which would spring generically from the countries of the Middle East themselves and which would not be dominated by nations such as the United States, Britain and other countries associated with the original Middle East Defence Organisation proposal in

October 1951.

Mr Dulles is believed to think this proposal was, not sufficiently native in" its origin and was somewhat artificial, He is credited with the belief that an or Įganisation springing directly from the Middle East a better chance of support from those would have countries whose enthusiasm is not great at the moment.

The Pakistan Foreign Minister sald he would return from his Sir Mohammed Zafrullah Khan, tour of the Middle East with "po is understood to have subscribed disposition
