John Fellowes-Smith, a burly | King law student from Natal, did hlv Benaud best to keep the game alive by pursuing a policy of aggression. The 22-year-old South African paid little attention to the state of the pitch "drying under sun- rhine after overnight rain. He attacked at once, drove Ring at Benaud, the leg spinners, each for a lofty six and also hit four fours in making 50 before he was last out after a gallant inalngs of 89 minutes."
