Britain Imposes New Trading Restrictions With China They Seek

Britain today barred its merchant ships from carrying strategic goods to Communist China or Communist-controlled North Korea.

The Government took this action following a Colony's unique position promise by Mr Anthony Eden, the Foreign Secre- tary, to the United States Government that Britain would reinforce the United Nations embargo on United States that trading the export of strategic goods to China.

British merchant ships of 500 gross tons or more will need a special licence after March 31 to sail from any port in the world to China or North Korea or be tween ports in the two Communist countries.'
