A MEMORABLE TRIUMPH

PROFESSIONALS MAKE THEIR DEBUT
THREE GOALS IN THE FIRST 17 MINUTES OF PLAY- AND HONGKONG WINS 5-2 By "SPIV"
Hongkong achieved yesterday another memorable feat in the annals of her soccer history when the Colony's Selection XI handed to the touring Austrian Linzer Athletik Sport Klub the first defeat of their Far Eastern tour.
Striking like a flash of lightning, the loent XI scored three goals without reply in the first 17 minutes of play. As the visitors rallied back from this early setback, the match deteriorated into a number of unpleasant incidents and ended farcically with LASK playing only with eight men and Hongkong the winners by five goals to two.
Incessant appeals against the decisions of the referee marred the greater part of the game and culminated in what was probably

Hongkong were then leading by 4-2 and were on the verge of nelling their fifth goal when Au Chi-yin was tripped inside the penalty area. The referee had no hesitation in painting to the "spul" and ordered a re-kick after the first kick has been stopped by the LASK goal- for an in- keeper, apparently fringement of moving by the goalkeeper before the kick.

China And USA Enter International Final
By "KEYSTONE"
China gained a comfortable 7-4 win over a youthful Philippines team in the semi-final round of this season's International Softball Series yesterday, while the weighty bats of the USA line-up battered the Pakis- tan contingent into submission with an 11-8 score.
On Sunday the US Navy played brillant ball to score the upset of the season, edging out the League-leading Braves by 2-1, mainly through the fine one-hit pitch- ing job put up by Navy chucker Bogard..
