Narrow Victories For The Favourites In Senior Division Matches

By "ARGONAUT

Two thrilling Men's "A" Division matches were pinyed off yesterday as the Colony Badminton League got into full swing again after the holiday break.

Both Chinese YMCA, the holders, and University, this year's leading con. tenders, scored their second straight wins, but not without some anxious moments in the process.

Chinese YMCA, who without two of their, reguler players, W. F. Foo and D. C. Lau, were extremely lucky to get off with a 5-4 victory over Recreio vastly improved squad.

REFEREE PARAGON IN AN ORDEAL

By IVAN SHARPE

The full story has reached me of the triumph after ordeal, literally of fire and water, of a British referee (Mr H. Dykes, of Manchester) in the League Championship- doclding match in Argentina, which has provided the year's most senzational football scenes and pictures, And this, mark you, in the country where the FA team will be touring next summer!

The crowd became so hostile that at half-time he was un- able to go to the dressing- room, to he sat on the ball in the middle of the feld.

Problem for the Argentine FA was that Racing (River Plate's rivals) won their lozt match and so stood, level with River Plate on points, but second on goal-average, What should happen?
