600,000 Civil Servants Lose Wage Claim

London, Jan. 11.

The Treasury has rejected a £15,000,000-a-year higher pay claim for 600,000 Civil Servants and made it, plain to uniòn leaders that the day of "blanket" rises in tho Civi Service in over.

Now tho Individual Civil Service unions will submit thel claims to arbitration.

But the unions, still hope to negotiate with the Treasury on behalf of the lower-pald grades, whore position is closer to in dustrial workers.

The decision was an answer to the staff sklo of the National Whitley Council, which basei the claim on a seven-point In- crease in tho Ministry of Labour's wages index.
