Wheelock Marden's Activities Reviewed By The Chairman Annual Meeting Today
Reviewing the year's activities. Mr G. E. Marden, Chairman of Wheelock Marden & Co., Ltd, said at the Company's annual meeting this morning that the period had seen on the whole a change for the better in the Colony's relationship with the rest of the world and a calmer financial atmosphere had prevailed.
Credit conditions, improved generally, but this had not, unfortunate- ly, led to any appreciable reduction in the cost of living.
Mr Marden said:

The brilliant parade of the Hongkong Police Force held in the racecourse at Happy Valley this morning was historic for three reasons,
Ohe was the presentation of two George Medals, the first ever to be awarded to the Colony Police; secondly, the Women's Police contingent made their debut; and, lastly, it was the initial appearance of the Hongkong Police Band at an annual parade of this magnitude.
