BRITISH RACEHORSE
SUPREME ONCE MORE
By MAJOR GEOFFREY HARBORD
The British flat-racing season ended on November 15 and on the whole it has been a very satisfactory season. We have at last turned the tables on the French, whose runaway win in the 2,000 Guineas foreshadowed a bad time for us. It was their one classic success.
The only other important race to go abroad was the Champion Stakes, won hy Dynamiter, the best mile-and-a-quarter horse in Europe.
Tom Haliburton beat this by one, shot at Worthing in June.

TEST PRICES UP AGAIN
Test cricket in England is ta cost moro Mecting at Lords recently, p Board of Control decided to raise the minimum admission charge for the Teats against the Australians next year to 5. This will apply to all grounds,
On the Indian tour this year,
the charge was 4s. Od. In London. and 4s in the provinces. On the Australian tour of 1948, the prices were 45. and 9s. .. respectively.
The higher charges are due' to the Increase in entertaininènt tax introduced in the March budget. After tax has been deducted, the 55. gate money will produce a net 38, 72d. In 1948 the 45. charge produced 3s. od..and the 3s. Od. charge produced 31. id.
It is possible, therefore, that the vast pront of £75,000, made оп the 1948 tour, will be kurpassed,
..
TEST TRIAL
The committee also decided to revive the practice of holding Test trial. But it is difficult to understand, why. There has not been once since the farcical altair at Bradford in 1950.
There, on a rain damaged wicket, Jim Laker, the Surrey spin bowler, returned the re- markable analysis of eight wickets for two runs.
On this performance he was selected for the
First Test against the West Indles. In that game he took one wicket for 60 runst and was not picked for the remainder of the series.
NO CHANGE IN LBW LAW
The Advisory County Cricket Committee met at Lords on the
same day. They decided not lo but did express the desirability propose a change in the lbw law, for fastor wickets.
it was also decided to con- tinue with the experiment of allowing a declaration nt any time during a county match.
