£4,000 IS NEEDED TO SAVE GOLF'S WALKER CUP

JOHNNY WILLIAMS IS BEING
"SAVED" FOR SOLOMONS' BIG SHOW NEXT MONTH
Heavyweight Champion Johnny Williams, having achieved at little inconvenience, and no loss of good looks, a win in seven rounds at Leices- ter over South Africa's plucky but ill-equipped Johnny Arthur, will be interested to learn that he is now being "saved" for Prince Philip in December.
He has been informed of the wisdom, good taste and publicity possibilities of this long-term idea, as compared with the cash benefits of a more immediate, but less ceremonial appearance.

THE SPORTING OUTLINE FOR CORONATION YEAR BEGINS TO TAKE SHAPE
By ARCHIE QUICK
The sporting outline for Coronation Year begins to take shape! The Football Association has already made its plans for a series of special matches; now boxing promoter Mr Jack Solomons has made the first tenk tative moves for a mammoth, show next June, either outdoors at the White City or indoors at Earls Court.
He has decided against Harringay ürally, because the boxers' pay needs, a bigger hall than the North London arena to make it pay; and secondly, because White City or Earls Court is so much more central.
