IKE TO HOLD PARLEYS BEFORE KOREA TRIP

New York, Nov. 12.

President-elect, Mr D. Eisenhower, is planning an important round of conferences with other Republican party leaders in New York next week before he leaves for Korea, his associates said today.

No date has been fixed for the Korean trip, but strictest security arrangements are already being made to protect him there.

Successes And Reverses For South Korean Troops

Tokyo, Nov. 13.

South Korean troops recaptured "Pinpoint" and “Little Finger" hills on "Sniper Ridge" yester day, but were beaten back from the crest of "Jane Russell" on the "Triangle Hill" mass in the con- tinuing battle of the “Kumhwa ridges.”

The ROK infantrymen surged forward to retake all the ground lost on Tuesday night to the Chinese in the Sniper Ridge area. The Chinese had attacked behind a heavy artillery barrage with 1,500 men to temporarily occupy the vital western front heights before being driven northward by a South Korean counter-attack,

The South Koreans launched an atluck for Jane Russell, but were smashed back before reaching the erest. At the last report, the ROK troops were huddled in bunkers ot the belton of the hill.

Eighth Army reports yester- day showed two hills regained in the Sniper Ridge area and a stalemate on the Trianglo Hin mass.
