Alleged Savage Attack Against Man Aboard Lighter

PROSECUTION'S STORY AT TRIAL

A savage attack on a foreman aboard a Kowloon Godowns lighter, berthed at the wharf on August 2 last, followed by an attack with iron. intruments on his five-year-old daughter, was described by the Crown at the Criminal Sessions this morning when Tse San-sung, alias Tse Ma-pai, aged 33, former sailor, stood trial before Mr Justice Reece for wounding with intent to murder and, alternatively, wounding with intent to do griev- ous bodily harm.

The accused had originally pleaded not guilty and when asked this morning if he still adhered to that, he replied, "I admit to simple wound- ing as a result of a fight."

Mr G.-R. Sheath, Crown Counsel, said that the prosecution could not accept the plea.
