Business in most of Western Europe is staging a quiet comeback after slight slumps earlier this year, an Associated Press survey in dicates.

Only in France are there real signs of a possible depression. Elsewhere, economic experts say that business activity levelled off or turned upward in recent months and that any fears of a widespread depression

appear to be unfounded.

Up-to-date reports from most Western European countries point to slightly better times ahead.
