Löndon, Oct. 5. The September gold and dollar figures released by the Treasury last Thursday complete our knowledge of the state of the reserves for the third quarter of the year.

The surplus of $13 million earned by the Sterling Area last month" transforms the quarterly position of the reserves from one of deficit--- ranging from $934 million in the last quarter of 1951 to $15 million in the June quarter-to one of overall balance.
