Capinin Erle Sherwood, Commanding Officer of this PEC. nor Lieut.-Colonel Kevin Hughes, in charge of Army education in the East Anglia area, inclined to blame the billz for all the backwardness. Too many of the soldiers came from areas where their education was undis- turbed by bombs.
THESE officers thought parental indifference to their schooling and to truancy largely accounted for the vacuum of the school years. The boys had passed their classroom days in a trance; and with huge classes, there was not time to lead or drive them out

Men Accused Of Holding Up Women
At Point Of A Gun
The story of three dripping wet men climbing over the side of a fishing junk and robbing its mistresses off Castle Peak Bay on the night of July 8 last was told when Cheung Piu, 31, unemployed, appeared on trial before Mr Justice Williams, Senior Puisne Judge, in the Criminal Sessions this morning on a charge of robbery with aggravation.
It was alleged by the Prosecution that accused was one of the three men who, at the point of a gun, robbed Teang Tai of a clock, three small fishing nets, HK$24, one Hongkong allver dollar, $2 (Macao currency) and a pair of jaded gold ear-rings; and Ng Man-chai of a pair of jaded gold ear-rings.
