A movement is afoot to vote Satchel Paige, the practically age. less Negro pitcher, into baseball's Hall of Fame, and after considerable thought we have decided it is the thing to do.

If you want to go by Paige's rather brief record in the big leagues, then he does not, of course, belong among the statuary of baseball immortals at Coopers town, N.Y., where baseball began.

But when all the factors of his amazing career are considered, there can exist little doubt that the slim, slow-talking master of control deserves to be the first of his race to win the game's highest honour.
